The Women's Glee Club
Dr. Mitos Andaya, Director

Since its foundation in mid-1920’s, the University of Georgia Women's Glee Club has offered a wealth of choral music to the campus and the community. Open to all women at the University of Georgia, this non-auditioned ensemble is dedicated to the study and performance of treble-voice repertoire from all periods from medieval to contemporary, including jazz and popular styles. In 2004, the Women’s Glee Club performed under the baton of BBC Philharmonic Orchestra Composer/Conductor James MacMillan during his residency at the University of Georgia. The ensemble was featured at the Georgia Music Educators Association Conference in Savannah in 2004, and was also selected by blind taped audition to perform at the American Choral Directors Association Southern Division Conference in Charleston, West Virginia in February 2006. In addition to various on and off-campus featured performances, the Women’s Glee Club also performs with other UGA choirs and instrumental ensembles throughout the year.
