The University of Georgia Concert Choir
Prof. Allen Crowell, Director

The UGA Concert Choir is a mixed ensemble of about 40 voices. The ensemble's performances focus on the great works of the choral repertoire from the Renaissance through to the present. The 2006-2007 season included music of Lassus, Victoria, Stravinsky, Whitacre, Lauridsen and many others. The Concert Choir usually sings a cappella or with piano, but often joins the University Chorus to become a “symphonic” choir to sing with the UGA Symphony Orchestra. The 2007-2008 academic year includes performances of Dave Brubeck's oratorio, “The Light in the Wilderness” and the Brahms Requiem with the orchestra.
The Concert Choir is open to UGA students by audition. Auditions are held during the first week of classes of the fall semester, with additional auditions held at other times as necessary (such as at the beginning of the spring semester). The audition process takes about 10 minutes and no prepared piece is required. Sign up sheets for audition times can be found posted in the Choral Suite in the School of Music .
Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding auditions.
