The African American Choral Ensemble

Dr. Gregory Broughton, Director

The University of Georgia African-American Choral Ensemble (AACE) performs choral works written and/or arranged by African American composers. This includes those works derived through oral tradition as well. Whereas the literature performed is restricted, membership is open to the total university community. In 2001, the AACE was awarded the Pedro Zamora Horizon Award for its Commitment to Diversity. This award is presented by University of Georgia Housing . In previous years the award has been presented to individuals but that year the African-American Choral Ensemble was recognized because of the diversity of its membership.

AACE is open to all students by audition. Auditions are held during the first week of classes of each semester during the class meeting hours. The audition process does not require a prepared piece however this is encouraged for those who wish to be seriously considered. Contact the ensemble's director Dr. Gregory Broughton for audition information.
